5 Reasons to have an Engagement Photoshoot
“Why do people have engagement photo shoots?”
1. It is a chance for us to get to know each other.

Your wedding day is coming up! I’ll be with you all day and I’ll even be one of the first people you see in the morning. When I arrive, I’d like it to feel like another friend has arrived. I wouldn’t like to be some random person, just pointing a camera at you. That is not the feeling I’d like you to have on your wedding day! Once your wedding day arrives, we will have spoken lots and met up at least once. At an engagement shoot, I won’t always be pointing a camera at you, we can enjoy a walk and get to know each other more. It’s chance for you both to see for yourself, there’s no scary posing, only cuddling. I won’t ask you to, “smile for the camera”, I’ll only ask you to make each other laugh.
2. It’s a chance for you to grow more comfortable in front of a camera.
Anticipating a photoshoot is scary! So many client’s actually apologise to me before we even start and declare, “We are really awkward…” But I’ll let you into a secret, that works really well for photos! Because when you are nervous, you laugh and you giggle! And that just about sums up my style. At first, I might ask you to look anywhere but me, which leaves you with two choices, you’ll either look in opposite directions or at each other. Both options result in giggles and I’ll be there to capture them. That doesn’t sounds too scary does it?
3. It is a chance to get excited!

So, everything’s booked. You are in the process of making those final payments. You are probably wondering about those table decorations?
But guess what? You are getting married soon! It’s actually happening. And engagement shoot isn’t another tick on your to do list. It’s a chance to get excited! The wedding day is nearly here! Take a breather, soak in the moment because you won’t be fiancé or fiancée much longer!
Or perhaps, you are freshly engaged, riding on cloud nine? You are getting married! What better way to remember this time, than to document the happiness with a photoshoot?
4. It’s a chance for you to have a moment.
When was the last time you looked into your partner’s eyes for a long period of time? Nearly all my couples, joke, “I’ve never looked at you this much!” Life can be so busy, especially on the lead up to a wedding. But this hour or two, is just for you and just about you. You can kiss,. cuddle and snuggle. Sometimes, I ask couples to practice their first dance but honestly, not many prompts are needed because you’ll find you’ll fall into a moment. A moment just for you two.
5. It is a chance for us to talk about the upcoming day!
Leading up to the big day, we’ll have phone calls, email an texts but there’s nothing quite like old fashioned face to face is there? Any questions you have or any requests you have, an engagement session is a great opportunity to ask.. I find that couples often use this time to finalise timing for the day, such as how long you’d like me to be there in the morning? Whatever we talking about, we both leave having a much clearer picture of the upcoming day.
